Oxford and Cambridge Applications

Oxbridge application is undeniably designed for the extremely bright, highly motivated candidate. The competition for places at Oxbridge colleges is particularly stiff. Pupils are strongly advised to listen carefully to the assessment provided by Dr Yeo (Oxford) and Mrs Allen (Cambridge) and the appropriate Heads of Department before commiting themselves to an application. More information is available in the Higher Education Choices and Decisions Booklet.

All prospective candidates should consult the Oxford or Cambridge Undergraduate Prospectuses available in the Careers Library.

Entry involves conditional offers based on the UCAS Application Form which must be submitted by 15th October, an interview and in some subjects extra aptitude tests and submitted written works. Interviews are held the first three weeks in December and there is no flexibility in the timings. The dates are published in the prospectus and on the website.

Oxford has extra aptitude tests for English, History, Economics, Physics and Mathematics. These are generally held the first Wednesday in November. Please see each department websites within the Oxford University website for more information. Cambridge often has TSA (Thinking Skills Assessment) Tests during the Interview process. See the Cambridge University Website for more information.

There are special arrangements for Organ, Choral and Instrumental awards. The forms may be downloaded from the websites and prospective candidates must see RCDM and have their forms completed with their college of preference and handed in to the Careers Office by 30th June 2010.
