The department believes that it is crucial for pupils to begin to assemble an attractive curriculum vitae as soon as possible. Work experience forms an important part of this process. We encourage all pupils to undertake at least one work experience placement during their time at Charterhouse. For the majority this would take place in the post GCSE period in the summer term of the Fifth Form (Year 11).
The department facilitates this process by asking parents of the Fifth form to offer a one or two day work experience placement in their place of work by registering their information. The boys are then requested to register their interest by filling in the Student Registration Form.
In addition we encourage boys to arrange and negotiate their own placements out of school term. We can then send our standard forms WE001 Checklist of Employer Risks Covered and Form WE002 Work Experience Provider Preliminary Assessment of Risk to the companies involved.
From September 2008, Trident from Edexcel company will administer the work experience programme and provide the Health and Safety checks requires. The Vth Form boys will be introduced to the programme in October 2008. For more information see http://www.trident-edexcel.co.uk/index.asp
The Parental/Guardian Consent Form must be filled in with a copy being sent to the employer.
