Football
There was success for both our teams in the first round of the ISFA Cup. The senior side beat Bedford Modern, courtesy of goals from Tom Bray and Chris Corney in a 2-1 win. The next round sees Lancing as the opposition. The U15's had a comfortable win over KES Witley, 2 goals for Tim Downes in a 4-0 victory and Hampton will be a more serious threat in the 2nd round.
September 22nd
Football
The 1st X1 entertained St Bede's on Saturday. A bad tempered affair resulting in 2 St Bede's players recieving their marching orders, however it didn't influence the result as the away side won 4-0. The U16's led 2-0 before being pegged back to 2 a piece. The U15's led 2-1 with 2 minutes to play and yet contrived to lose 3-2 thanks to some poor defending. And the U14's conceded a late penalty in the 8th minute of stoppage time to draw 3-3.
September 15th

Charterhouse travelled to Forest on Saturday and in an end to end game a 3-3 draw was the outcome. Jack Ryder-Smith with 2 goals for the away side. In other games the U16's won at Forest 3-2, the 15's won 5-0, a hatrick for Tim Downes, and the 14's also won 3-1.

Charterhouse got their 2008 campaign off to a difficult start at the hands of a very strong OC's side. Despite competing for long periods the old boys ran out 5-1 winners. It was however an encouraging start for many of the players. In other games, the OC's dominated and won all 5 fixtures.

Coming off the back of 4 straight wins Charterhouse entertained Whitgift in a thrilling encounter. Whitgift were inserted on a damp morning and found the going tough against the new ball. However, the openers built a good base for the talented Jason Roy and Tom Winslade to kick on and take Whigift

Charterhouse v Bradfield
Charterhouse won the toss and elected to bowl first on a pitch that looked to offer some movement early on. Good bowling from James Procter and Peter Doggart made early in roads and the prize wicket of Hamsa Riazuddin was taken by James Chandler to leave the away side 76-4. A minor recovery was staged but the introduction of Procter back into the attack snuffed out the threat of Bradfield making a decent score. Charterhouse v OC’s 24th May
A very windy but crucially dry day greeted the OC’s back to Charterhouse for the annual fixture between the two sides. Charterhouse won the toss and inserted the OC’s on a very hard and true wicket. Superb early bowling from James Procter and Peter Doggart reduced the batting side to 12 – 3, Procter bowling both openers. Harry Hooper then got his head down to compile a
Charterhouse got off to a great start in reply. Ollie Pike, showing true class, and Ben Jeffery put on 75 for the first wicket before Jeffery got out once again when well set for 31. Jamie Rumball scored a breezy 18 and then Pike was joined by Jamie Hall to form the match winning
Although the OC performance was down a level on last year this was another excellent performance from the First X1.

Dulwich v Charterhouse
After the glorious weather from the previous couple of weeks, a damp, grey, cold morning greeted the two teams. Charterhouse won the toss and elected to bowl first, James Procter and Peter Doggart were economical but never really threatened the classy Ranatunga. A wet ball hampered the attack and runs were easy to come by, spin was introduced but with the ball resembling a bar of soap, Ranatunga and Goodwin milked the attack. After lunch Procter produced a devastating spell, taking 4 wickets. With good support from James Chandler the scoring slowed, Ranatunga finally out for 104 courtesy of a great run out from Jamie Hall. The declaration came at 202-6, leaving Charterhouse to score at nearly 6 an over to win the game. The new pairing of Ollie Pike and Ben Jeffery got the away side off to a perfect start putting on 94 before Jeffery was adjudged LBW. Pike followed soon after for a cultured 61, leaving Hall and Rumball to play a more expansive game. Rumball with 39 from 23 balls took the game away from Dulwich and with George Adolphus supplying the finishing touch a good victory was secured in the final over of the day.
In other games, the U16's lost by one wicket in the last over, the U15's had their first win of the season thanks to a great all round performance from Ed Strang. And the U14's won again thanks to Jonathon Gonszor's 50 and Tom Gallyer's 6-17.

Another beautiful May morning greeted the two teams. Charterhouse won the toss and elected to bat and for most of the morning that was the only thing the away side got right. A collection of poor shot selection and some good bowling saw the batting side slip to 60-6. It was only Ben Jeffery with a very patient 54 and a mixture of

In the other fixtures, the Under 14's won again, Jonathon Gonszor continuing his excellent season with 39. The U16's and 15's both lost, the 16's by just one wicket in the last over. An excellent 75 from Julian Hornby not being enough to finish on the winning side.
Water Polo
The Charterhouse U18 Water Polo team became National Champions with a 26 -8 win over Bradford Grammar School. Hugo Millington-Drake scoring eight goals.
May 9th

On a beautiful warm May day the MCC won the toss and elected to bat on a near perfect wicket. Harry Hooper a former Carthusian took advantage and scored at will, stroking the ball effortlessly all around Green. With the score on 180-1 a large total beckoned, but an inspired spell of seam bowling from James Procter, well supported by George Adolphus reined the scoring rate in. On 218-7 after 54 overs the MCC declared leaving the home side to score at 4 and a half an over to win. A solid start by Ollie Pike and Will Walker got Charterhouse off to a perfect start as they put on 75 for the first wicket before they both fell in quick succession. Jamie Hall and Ben Jeffery got things back on track before Jeffery departed. Adolphus then gave Hall the support he needed and the game moved quickly away from the MCC. Hall with 65 not out winning the game in the final over of the day. A very good win.
May 5th

After another very wet week in the lead up to the game it was no surprise that on winning the toss Charterhouse invited Tonbridge to bat. A sluggish wicket and disciplined bowling from James Procter and Peter Doggart meant runs were hard to come by in the early stages. The rate barely got above 3 an over as the away side were held back by Adolphus and Rinck in the middle of the innings, late hitting from Cowdrey gave Tonbridge a score of 172 off their 55 overs. Finally, after 2 weeks of incessant rain a full set of fixtures has been completed. The First X1 lost to Winchester by 3 wickets, a poor result after dominating much of the game. The U16 A's won easily, Rozier-Pampling with 100 not out, the 15 A's lost as did the 14's despite Charlie Kimmins scoring 88 and taking 2-40.
April 23rd
Water Polo
The U18 Polo team won the South of England regional heats yesterday to advance through to the National Finals at Walsall. On the day they won all three of their matches, beating Alleyn's, Wilson's and Dean Close. The U16's narrowly failed to adavance through to the Finals after losing one game out of the three they played.

On a very cold, wet day, many of the fixtures were called off. However, at Harrow the First X1 and the U14's played full matches. The First X1 succumbed to another heavy defeat at the hands of an excellent Harrow team. After winning the toss Harrow posted 242-4 in their 55 overs, Gary Ballance scoring an fine 75. In reply against a strong bowling line up, the Charterhouse batting never got going and were bowled out for 136. Jamie Rumball with 47 one of the bright spots of the day.
April 15th

Charterhouse got their season off to a great start with a fine win at Radley. Put into bat the First X1 lost Pike and Walker early before Hall settled in to play a fine innings of 73. Well supported by Jeffery, Rumball, Adolphus and Don, Hall dominated the bowling and set Radley a stiff target of 208 in 45 overs. In reply James Procter took an early wicket as Radley struggled to get going. Good spells from Adolphus 3-27 and Chandler 2-28 made sure the home side never looked likely to get to the target. Charterhouse eventually won by 27 runs.
March 5th

The First X1 continued their fine run, this time beating Eton 2-1 on home soil. The Second string maintained a 100% record so far this season, winning 4-1. With one game to go a clean sweep is on the cards. In other games, the U16's lost for the first time this year, but the U15's won 6-0, easily their best performance of the year.

The First X1 travelled to Bradfield and in a tough match they came through to win 2-1. In other games, the 16's drew 3-3, the same score as in the 15's match, but the 14's lost 1-3. The most extraordinary performance of the day came from the Vagabond A's. A 19-0 scoreline suggesting Bradfield played without a keeper.

The First X1 entertained Trinity on Saturday and an excellent performance saw Charterhouse win comfotably 6-1. There were goals for Jamieson 2, Don, Beddows, Rumball and Hall. In other matches, the 16's won 1-0, the 15's lost 2-4 and the 14's also lost, 1-4.

Charterhouse reached the ISFA Cup Final for the second year in a row after a great 1-0 victory away at King's Chester. A Jamie Hall goal being enough to separate the two sides.

The Under 15's fell at the Semi Final hurdle in the ISFA Cup, crashing out to Latymer Upper 4-2 after extra time. Charterhouse enjoyed a strong first half, leading 2-0 at the interval, both goals scored by Dan Sargent. However, the second half saw Latymer up their game as Charterhouse sat back in defensive mode. A goal five minutes from time took the game into extra time where once again Latymer proved too strong.

Charterhouse had an excellent day across the teams against Wellington on Saturday. The 1st X1 came back from being 2-1 down to win 4-2, a hatrick for Henry Don being the highlight of that game. The U16's won 3-1, the U15's drew 3-3 and the U14's won 2-0.

The mid week fixture against St George's saw a remarkable come back from the 1st X1. After going 2-0 down, goals from Jamieson, Hall and Adolphus capped a remarkable turnaround in the second half.
In the semi finals of the Surrey heats, Charterhouse 1st X1 have been drawn against Reed's at 12.00 on Sunday 20th January. The game to be played at St George's. If they progress to the final they will play the winners of Kingston or St George's at 3.00pm on the same day.

The first full weekend of fixtures saw the First X1 go down 1-2 at Radley despite taking the lead through Anthony Beddows. The U16 A's had a good win, 3-2, the U15's won 2-1, but the U14's lost by the odd goal 2-3. On Sunday the First X1 qualified for the next stage of the National Championships by winning three of the five games.
Football
The A and B X1 were in action on Saturday against the very strong Millfield School. The A X1 went down 0-5 and the B's also lost, 3-5.
Swimming
The Seniors won the Guildford School's Swimming Gala on Saturday. Five Schools' took part in this annual event and Charterhouse, led by Jack Marriott took the honours.

The First X1 started off their campaign with a heavy defeat against the OC's. The 8-1 scoreline a fair reflection of the difference between the two sides. There was better news however, with three victories before term started. 3-0 against Marlborough, 1-0 against Dean Close, and 3-2 against Guildford Hockey Club.
December 3rd

The First X1 rounded off their league season with a convincing 6-0 win over Ardingly, Anthony Beddows on the score sheet twice for the home side. This result means Charterhouse will play in the final of the Independent Schools league in the New Year. In other games, the U16 lost narrowly 1-0 to Royal Russell, the Under 15's thumped Ardingly 9-0, Dan Sargent with 4 goals and Stefan Metaxa with 3. Finally, the Under 14's lost 0-1 to Ardingly.
The ISFA Cup resumes this week. The senior side travel to Shrewsbury and the Under 15's travel to St Edmund's, Canterbury. Both games to be played on Tuesday 4th December 2.00pm kick offs.
Rugby
The Rugby XV brought their season to a close on saturday with another good win, this time against the American School 22-0
Squash
In the Surrey Schools Open Tournament at Epsom School, the Charterhouse team of Wright, Bhachu, Dance and Jeffery got to the semi finals with wins over Ampleforth, KCS Wimbledon and Reeds. However in the semi final they went down 2-1 to a strong Epsom team.

Squash
The U19 squash team entertained Eton in the National Cup and recorded a brilliant win over one of the strongest teams in the country. The 3-2 scoreline showing the tightness of the match.
Rugby
The XV continued their excellent season with another victory over Cranleigh. After beating them earlier in the year Charterhouse proved it wasn't a one off performance with a 28-22 victory.
Swimming
In the Surrey Team Championships Charterhouse recorded school records in both the Senior Freestyle and Medley events. In the Freestyle, a time of 1.46.68 was enough to bring home the team in fourth place, and in the Medley, a time of 1.59.58 was good enough for third.

All four of the toip sides were in action on Saturday, and all four had comfortable wins against Aldenham. The First X1 won 3-1, with two goals from Charlie Jamieson and one from Jamie Hall. The U16's continued their fine run of form with a 2-0 win. The U15's secured a 3-1 win away, two goals from Ed Mole, and the U14's won 6-2, Harry Lineker scoring another four goals.
Dates have now been set for the ISFA Quarter Finals. The Senior side will play at Shrewsbury on Wednesday 5th December, and the U15's will play St Edmunds, Canterbury on Tuesday 4th December.
November 16th
ISFA Cup Draw
The senior side have drawn Shrewsbury away and the U15's have also been drawn away, to St Edmund's Canterbury. Matches to be played by the 8th December.
Football
The U15's joined the senior side in the last eight of the ISFA Cup with a 1-0 win over City of London. Ed Mole scored following good work from Dan Sargent. The scoreline should have been much improved bar some poor finishing from Charterhouse. Both draws for the next round take place later today.

Charterhouse First X1 took on Hampton in a re run of last years ISFA Cup Final. This time however, the result favoured the home side as Charterhouse ran out 2-0 winners. Goals from Jack Rogers and Tom Kimmins settled the match.
Today sees the U15's take on City of London in the 3rd round of the ISFA Cup, 2.00pm start.

With the First X1 not playing until today, the 2nd X1 took on Westminster and ran out comfortable winners 3-1. The U16's continued a good run of results, winning 3-0 and the U15's won easily 4-1 in a poor game on a small pitch. The U14's got back to winning ways, 3-0.

The First X1 travelled to Repton, goals from Hall (2) and Jamieson ensured a comfortable win 3-1. The rest of the school took on Hampton. The U16's ran out easy 3-0 winners, the U15's lost their 100% record as they drew 1-1, and the U14's lost to a very good side 2-4.

Racquets
Three pairs travelled to St Paul's, the first pair of Henry Don and Alex Rosier-Pamplin went down 4-0, the colts pair of Seb Cox and Rosier-Pamplin lost 1-3. The sole success came in the junior colts where Charlie Kimmins and Andrew Corridan won 3-0.
Squash
The squash team travelled to Harrow and had mixed success. The first team went down 4-1, the seconds won 2-1 and the U15's won comfortably, 4-1.
Swimming
The swimming teams had great success in their match against Winchester. The seniors, intermediates and the juniors all won. The juniors recorded 8 personal best times, and in the seniors, both Duncan Street and Kevin Kan beat the previous 200m school record time.

Charterhouse took on Bradfield yesterday. The First X1 kept another clean sheet but failed to score at the other end. The Under 16's drew 1-1, the 15's won 4-1, but the 14's lost 1-2. The most remarkable game of the day came in the 15 B game. Trailing 2-7 after 25 minutes Charterhouse fought back to 6-7 before conceding a late goal to lose 6-8.
The ISFA Cup matches to be played by Charterhouse now have dates. The First X1 play at Witley Bay on November 7th, and the Under 15's play on November 15th at home, both 2.30pm kick offs.

In the round of fixtures against Winchester on Saturday there were 13 wins, 1 draw and 6 defeats accross the 20 matches. The First X1 were held to a 0-0 draw despite dominating the game, the U16's lost 3-1 in a poor performance. The U15's made it 8 out of 8 with a 3-0 win, and the U14's won 7-0 with 4 goals from Harry Lineker.
Rugby
The First XV had a titanic struggle with RGS Guildford before winning 7-5 in a very tight match.

The ISFA Cup dream is still alive for both our sides this year. The First X1 travelled to QEGS Blackburn and came away with a resounding 4-0 win. For the U15's, Jack Ryder-Smith got on the scoresheet for the first time this season with two goals as Charterhouse romped home 4-0. The draw for both sides takes place later today.

A record number of football matches against Eton on the weekend. A total of 21 matches were played resulting in 8 wins, 4 draws and 9 defeats. 277 Carthusians took part in the largest ever fixture between the two sides. The First team drew 0-0, Rob Proctor keeping his side in the game with a string of excellent saves. The U16's won 1-0, the 15's kept up their 100% record with a 3-1 win but the 14's went down 1-2, their first defeat of the season.
