I am delighted to be able to offer a warm welcome to Charterhouse. I am personally very thrilled to be part of the School at this exciting time in its history. The all-round education on offer here has always been special, and I am looking forward to developing this still further over the coming years. Charterhouse will always strive for academic attainment and personal wellbeing, for creating a supportive and inclusive community whilst also celebrating individual successes, and for a fulfilling education that endures long after the examination results have been published.
I hope that you will find our website to be helpful and engaging and that it will also give you a sense of what a busy, purposeful and ambitious school Charterhouse is, as well as giving a glimpse of the great beauty of our campus and buildings. It is, however, only a prospectus and is no substitute for a visit – and certainly not for the full educational experience.
Academic ambition is at the centre of all that we do here and our pupils go on to study at the very best universities in the UK and across the world. We have a distinctive curriculum that includes a choice in the Sixth Form between two challenging and rewarding programmes of study, recognising that different courses suit different types of pupil. Our pupils achieve excellent examination results but we seek to nurture a way of thinking and an intellectual curiosity that are ultimately fulfilling and ensure success.
Charterhouse offers an exceptional extra-curricular programme with a wide range of activities, encompassing the creative arts, outdoor education and a vast array of sports. We help our pupils to develop existing interests and to find new ones that will stay with them for life.
Our aim is to send our pupils out into the world with close friends and the ability to make new ones, with the knowledge and skills to succeed at university and beyond, and with a broad range of interests to enrich their lives. Important though they certainly are, a Charterhouse education is about more than academic excellence and taking advantage of opportunities provided by our extra-curricular programme: we expect our pupils to be kind, tolerant and open-minded and, by the time they leave, to be equipped to contribute something new to the world.
I hope that we will see you here soon.
