We have two large partnership projects with local state schools with regular practical investigation sessions run in the Charterhouse laboratories.

Charterhouse and Kings College in Guildford first started working together on collaboration projects in January 2005.

The first collaborative project focused on creating resources for secondary school students. Since then there have been a number of projects that have been worked on, including Saturday morning booster sessions for PGCE students and residential subject booster courses for pre-PGCE students.

Creating and maintaining a state/independent partnership works best when  small groups of teachers from both schools work together—rather than creating a general link between the two schools.

The partnership has now expanded to include working with Reading University and the Learning Skills Network (LSN). This year the Head of Science at Kings, joined the collaboration.
