Operation Christmas Child is the world’s largest children’s Christmas project and since 1990 it has helped to bring the joy of Christmas to more than 47 million children. Last year alone, over 1.25 million shoeboxes full of gifts for Christmas were distributed from the United Kingdom to hurting children. These boxes were given to children in hospitals, orphanages, displaced persons camps and homeless shelters in 13 countries around the world.
We have been sending boxes from Charterhouse for children of all ages for a few years and last year we sent over 120 shoeboxes full of gifts to Samaritan’s Purse, the organising charity (www.samaritanspurse.uk.com ) for distribution.
The boxes will be going to Chapel on Wednesday 26 November, and will be dedicated at the School Morning Service the following day, 27 November.
This year we hope to increase the number of boxes we send and for information on how you can help us achieve this please contact anniehardie@charterhouse.org.uk.
