In November nearly 1000 Genesis fans were treated to a historic rock music delight at Charterhouse, when G2 – one of the leading Genesis tribute bands – staged a two-night event in Hall raising close to £15,000 in aid of CHASE Hospice Care for Children.
As most ardent Genesis fans already know, the band’s routes go back to their days at Charterhouse in the 1960s. Being able to play at this prestigious venue was a historic occasion and a real honour for the tribute band.
Lead guitar, Chris Cawte, commented, “The two gigs were extraordinary; to have people travel the length and breadth of the country to experience their favourite music in such a setting, to raise money for CHASE was very moving. In 32 years of gigging, I can't remember playing to such emotion and enthusiasm, in such beauty, for such a good cause.”

The band was particularly honoured on Saturday night when Steve Hackett (Genesis lead guitar 1971 – 1977) joined the audience and donated a signed book and CD to the Genesis memorablia charity auction that also took place.
The final result is that the event raised close to £15,000 for CHASE, some of which they hope will go towards music therapy and specialist composition software. Some of the band members intend to hold a master class for young musicians at Christopher’s hospice in the near future.
