Oscillation, an exhibition by Margaret Orson

Studio, Charterhouse
February 22nd to March 15th 2008

The concept of this exhibition came about when I filmed the surface of water, recording movements, reflections and shadows. The resulting images revealed a sort of vascular world.  Rather like looking through a microscope, familiar structures became atomic, alien, oscillating between reality and the supernatural. Nothing is quite what it seems…

I have examined this in a formal geometric language, which deals with tension between fixed points and the movement between them. The environment also plays a part in changing the pieces.

The work reflects the journey into this strange and, I think, rather beautiful world. I hope that you enjoy the experience.
