On the last Saturday of term over 100 keen reelers congregated in Hall for the 11th annual St Andrew’s Ball. The Hall is a spectacular venue – decked out in tartan drapes, with decorative Christmas trees adding to the picture. Students were joined by an enthusiastic band of Old Carthusians, Masters and their guests. It was a splendid occasion with a swirl of tartan matching the glamour of the ball gowns. Kafoozalum provided the live music and all the popular reels were well-supported. During dinner, provided by Avenance, less well-known extra dances were attempted, including Postie’s Jig and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh. The Ball concluded with a marvellous Reel of the 51st when everyone took to the floor for a sensational finale.
