Charterhouse pupils won three sections of the Guildford Classical Association Reading competition held on Wednesday, January 27th.
Anthony Adams (V) won the Senior Latin section, reading Virgil’s account of the death of Priam; Jeremy Lam (P) won the Open Greek section, reading a lament from Sophocles’ Philoctetes; and Tom Annable (B) and Mark Fischel (g) won the Latin dialogue with a very amusing performance of a scene from Plautus’ Mostellaria.
Eight Carthusians competed, and seven were placed first or second or were highly commended.
