150th Concert Series
This year also marks the 150th anniversary of the birth of one of Charterhouse's most distinguished alumni, composer Ralph Vaughan Williams. His life and works are being celebrated in a concert series at Charterhouse, featuring both professional musicians and our own pupils.
The School’s Ralph Vaughan Williams Concert Series is detailed below.
Long Quarter 2022
Concert 1: Thursday 3 February, 7.00pm
Welcome lecture and Concert given by Head of Academic Music, Dr Russell Millard, and musicians of Charterhouse (Llewellyn Room).
Concert 2: Thursday 24 February, 7.00pm
Evening Recital of Vaughan Williams Chamber Music given by musicians of Charterhouse (Hall).
Concert 3: Saturday 19 March, 7.30pm
The Concert Series includes the Britten Sinfonia performing in the Memorial Chapel as part of the Investec International Music Festival.
Cricket Quarter 2022
Concert 4: Thursday 5 May, 7.00pm
Investec International Music Festival Evening Recital given by the Sitkovetsky Trio (Hall).
Concert 5: Sunday 8 May, 7.00pm
Chamber Recital by musicians of Charterhouse (Hall).
Oration Quarter 2022
Concert 6: Thursday 22 September, 7.00pm
Evening Recital of music for voice and strings given by Claire Sutton-Williams and Mark Begbie, directed by Head of Strings, Mr Rafael Bolivar (Hall).
Concert 7: Wednesday 28 September, 7.00pm
Evening Recital of music by Vaughan Williams given by musicians in Robinites and Saunderites (Llewellyn Room).
Festival Service of Remembrance: Thursday 10 November, 5.00pm
A service for Remembrance tide will be given by the Chapel Choir to close the Concert Series (Chapel).
