Step 2: The ISEB Pre-test
Children will sit the ISEB Common Pre-test to Charterhouse in the Autumn Term of their Year 7. This is an age-standardised series of on-line assessments in Mathematics, English, Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning. The results are reviewed in conjunction with a reference from their Current School. Successful applicants will be invited to an Interview and Assessment Afternoon early in the Spring Term of Year 7.
Candidates from Hong Kong and mainland China are recommended to contact Academic Asia (www.academic-asia.com) and they will guide them through the process and invite them to take the ISEB Pre-test at Academic Asia’s offices.
Step 3: Interview & Activities Assessment at Charterhouse
The Assessment at Charterhouse has been carefully designed with the primary goal of getting to know our prospective pupils. We achieve this through a mix of engaging group activities, friendly interviews, and interesting written assessments with an aim to uncover the diverse talents that each student possesses. The written assessment includes creativity, comprehension, and logical puzzles, all intended to bring out the best in our candidates.
Step 4: The Results
At the end of the Spring Term of Year 7, we will make our offers of places to children who have done well in the process and will seek a final reference from the child’s Current School at the start of their year 8 to ensure that Charterhouse is still the best fit for the child. In the unlikely event that a School Head raises a concern, we reserve the right to reassess.
Some candidates may be offered a place on the reserve list.
Step 5: Accepting a Place
Parents will be asked to sign an acceptance form and pay a non-refundable deposit when accepting the place.
