Reverse Mentoring

Mentoring can be a very powerful tool to develop and hone your skills. It is widely thought that 20% of all our learning comes from coaching, mentoring and developing through others (as per the 70-20-10 model developed in the 1980s).

Following on from the success of our Micro-Mentoring campaign we would like to introduce you to the idea of 'Reverse Mentoring'. Reverse mentoring is simply the opposite of traditional mentoring. Senior business leaders or individuals opt to be mentored by those more junior who can share knowledge about technology or topics of cultural relevance. Below we list some of the advantages for both mentor and mentee:

For the mentor: For the mentee:
  • Developing self confidence and self-awareness
  • Millenial retention
  • Building a learning culture
  • Sharing different perspectives
  • Inclusivity
  • Generational understanding
  • Driving cultural change
  • Seeing things differently

So, whether you're looking to understand new technology or get a handle on social media, or just looking for greater understanding of different perspectives, reverse mentoring can be an excellent way to achieve your goals.

Reverse mentoring is a great way to upskill, and broaden horizons. To register your interest in this style of mentoring please select the 'Reverse mentoring' tick box on the Mentoring section of your Charterhouse Connect profile. You can access Charterhouse Connect here. Alternatively please reach out to the Foundation Team by emailing foundation@charterhouse.org.uk
