Sixth Form Admissions

We invite all candidates to complete an application form in the first instance.  The application must include copies of latest school reports, together with predicted grades at (I)GCSE. Candidates for whom English is not their first language must include a UKiset test. For information please see www.ukiset.com. The application form asks candidates to briefly describe their motivation and ambition to study at Charterhouse and their contribution to the school community.

Candidates will be notified if they are shortlisted between 1 June and 9 October 2024.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to register and complete the registration form and pay the £350 registration fee.  This form will be emailed to you.

We request confidential references from candidates’ schools. We will request these from September.  If a candidate has been at their current school for less than a year, we also request a reference from the previous school.  

The assessment day at Charterhouse is on a Saturday in the early part of November (Year 11).  For 2025 entry, this date is Saturday 9 November 2024. All candidates sit the Charterhouse Standard Test in English and then choose three further subject papers in subjects that they are looking to study at A Level or at Higher Level in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP).  Candidates are interviewed by a senior member of staff.

Candidates at school outside the UK

If a candidate is studying at a school outside the UK and unable to come to Charterhouse for the assessments, we can arrange for the tests to be sent to the British Council or the candidate’s current school.  Candidates who are successful in the exams will then be invited to an interview (on Zoom).

For candidates in Hong Kong and Mainland China, Academic Asia will hold an assessment day in Hong Kong in November. Please contact Ms Fung for more information.

Candidates who are successful in the assessments will be offered unconditional places on 1 December. Parents will be asked to secure the place by signing an acceptance form and paying a deposit. Some reserve offers may also be made.
