Composition and Organ prizes round off the musical school year. Our Year 11 composers all offered up their IGCSE coursework compositions for scrutiny, as did our A Level musicians. This week sees Evening Recital III, including a repeat performance to the Year 9s to mark the end of their exams.
Artifex is our annual arts festival but, at Charterhouse, it’s different. It is all organised, curated and created by our talented pupils.
Until 18 June, Godalming Museum will be hosting an exhibition of artworks by pupils from Broadwater School and Charterhouse, commemorating The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Our Year 12 pupils, Kan and Stan, represented Charterhouse at the Private View yesterday.
There are numerous highlights that continue to punctuate this term including the Evening Recitals and our ongoing Ralph Vaughan Williams Series. We also welcomed prep school pupils to take part in our Choral Day and the Jazz Band took to the Godalming Bandstand last Saturday.
Last week, our pupils took part in the second LAMDA showcase of the year, performing for parents, staff and peers in the Ben Travers Theatre. We have over 40 pupils taking LAMDA Exams next week, and showcases act as dress rehearsals ahead of the examination.
The fifth concert in this year's RVW series involved a variety of ensemble performances, with an emphasis on English folk music. We warmly welcomed back Old Carthusian, Tony Zhang. Read the full report by Mr Harry Boulton here.

Just before and since half term, music has continued to be a huge part of Charterhouse life and concerts have continued to flow from the Music department, particularly in this very special year in which we continue to celebrate both 150 years of Charterhouse in Godalming, but also of one of our most esteemed Old Carthusians, Ralph Vaughan Williams.
