Results day sees 92% of Charterhouse Cambridge Pre-U examinations awarded Distinction or Merit grades
Charterhouse is again celebrating an excellent set of examination results with 92% of Cambridge Pre-U examinations taken awarded Distinction or Merit grades. Fifty-four pupils achieved Distinctions (or their A level equivalent) in all subjects taken; sixteen achieved the equivalent of A level A* grades in all their subjects.
The IB Diploma Programme (IB DP) results this year (2018) were also pleasing: this was our largest cohort to date and continues to be fully representative of the gamut of our pupils. The average points score per candidate was 35 (out of 45) which is in line with last year’s results (similarly across the broad range of ability amongst the pupils) and remains significantly above the worldwide average of 30 points; 53% of candidates gained 36 points or more, and a pleasing number of candidates made their first choice offers in the UK, Europe and the US.
Pupils from both courses of study are now celebrating securing their university places, including those pupils who have achieved their offers for Oxbridge entry as well as to leading international universities such as Berkeley, Bocconi, Columbia, Chicago and NYU.
Headmaster Dr Alex Peterken said that he was “delighted with the considerable success that pupils had demonstrated” and congratulated the pupils on “both their commitment and energy that have resulted in some very fine results”. He also paid tribute both to the teaching staff, for all their endeavours in preparing pupils for the examinations, and to the support for the pupils that continues to be provided by the whole of the Charterhouse community.
