Code Quest

Code Quest

On Saturday 1 March, five teams – totalling 15 pupils – with a range of coding experience, travelled to Code Quest – an annual competition held at Lockheed Martin in Havant. The group departed at 7.15am, slightly bleary-eyed but eager to take on the challenge.

After a welcome and some setup time, the competition lasted 2.5 hours, with the first hour and a half seeing intense competition as teams constantly traded places at the top of the leaderboard. In the final hour, the leaderboard was frozen, leaving everyone uncertain of their standings and how they were progressing compared to other teams. However, our leading team (Year 12 pupils, Zachary, Joshua and Augustus) stayed composed and managed to pull ahead, securing victory by a healthy margin.

This marks the second consecutive year that Charterhouse has won the competition, and the enthusiasm of all of our teams was obvious to see. Congratulations to all who took part and thanks to Lockheed Martin for hosting the competition.

Mr Charles Marsh, Head of Specialist Computer Science

Lockheed Martin hosts Code Quest, an annual computer programming competition where teams of two to three pupils work together to solve problems by using Java, Python, C#, and/or C++ programming to complete the “quest”. The problem set consists of 20 to 30 challenging problems created by Lockheed Martin engineers and computer programmers.
