On Thursday 14 March, we had the privilege of hosting Dame Denise Lewis as a guest speaker in our series of lectures for pupils in Year 12.
Dame Denise Lewis, a former Olympic heptathlon champion and one of the UK’s most successful ever athletes was met with a packed Lecture Theatre. Her illustrious career includes winning the gold medal in the heptathlon at the 2000 Sydney Olympics and claiming bronze at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.
Recognized for her contributions, she was honoured as Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 2000 New Year Honours. Beyond her sporting achievements, Dame Denise is a successful TV pundit, charity ambassador, and served as the president of UK Athletics.
During her visit she delivered an inspiring talk sharing insights into her remarkable journey in athletics and the relentless pursuit of excellence. Her motivational words deeply resonated with the pupils, leaving a lasting impact. Following the event, Dame Denise generously engaged with pupils, answering their questions and further inspiring them to pursue their aspirations with passion and determination.
