Debate Team Shines

A group of Removes (Year 10) French and Spanish pupils went to St Catherine’s School, Bramley, to represent Charterhouse in their Year 10 Modern Foreign Languages Debating Competition.

The event, on Tuesday 17 June, brought together pupils from local schools for an afternoon of lively, fast-paced debating entirely in the target language.

Our pupils threw themselves into the experience with enthusiasm, determination, and a real sense of fun. They had worked hard in the weeks leading up to the event, preparing arguments, practising their pronunciation, and anticipating counterpoints. On the day, they spoke with confidence and clarity, defending their views with impressive accuracy and credibility.

It was a real joy to see how they supported one another, rose to the challenge, and enjoyed the opportunity to use their language skills in such a dynamic and competitive setting. From thoughtful arguments to spontaneous rebuttals, they did themselves, and the School proud.

We are incredibly proud of their performance and of the way they represented Charterhouse. It was an inspiring and thoroughly enjoyable afternoon, and we’re already looking forward to next year’s event!
