Empowering Futures

Empowering Futures

There was a purposeful buzz around our International Universities mini-fair hosted in the Hub on Monday 23 April. Nine universities were in attendance with representation from across Europe, US and Canada. Pupils and parents engaged in thoughtful conversations about some of the opportunities that await them after School.

The event was held in partnership with University Guys, the independent specialists, who support pupils in exploring, preparing for and applying to universities all over the world.

The universities in attendance included: Bishop's University, Bocconi University, EHL Hospitality Business School, Forward College, Swiss Education Group, Loyola Marymount University, University of Vermont, Syracuse University and CUNEF Universidad.

Studying overseas is a popular option for Charterhouse pupils, and they are supported with expert guidance from the Futures team.

More to come in a busy Summer Term for the Futures Department:

  • Year 12 pupils are having weekly sessions to assist with their university applications. The sessions cover researching courses and universities, signing up to UCAS, writing personal statements and exploring degree apprenticeship opportunities.
  • Our first Year 12 cohort are approaching completion of their level 3 professional qualification in Applied Entrepreneurship. They have been working tirelessly to complete their projects, taking modules in sales and marketing with a real emphasis on thinking through their own problems and working independently.
  • The School's week-long arts festival Artifex presents an opportunity for entrepreneurially minded pupils to join the Artifex Café and Ice Cream Society. Mr Patel, Head of Entrepreneurship who owned a hospitality business offers mentorship and guidance. This term, the focus turns to negotiation skills as the pupils will have the chance to meet suppliers and gain some invaluable hospitality training.
  • There will be a  'Dragons Den – Charterhouse', school-wide competition giving pupils an opportunity to develop and showcase their future-ready skills. The competition will begin with Intra-House teams competing for a place to represent their House at the grand finale which will take place during Artifex.
  • At Futures Preparation Day taking place across two days in June, Year 12s will be tasked with interviews, presentations and teamworking sessions at our mock assessment centre.
