ESS Field Trip

Year 13 Environmental Systems and Societies pupils enjoy trip to three significant sites

On Sunday 11 October, our Year 13 IBDP ESS (Environmental Systems & Societies) pupils enjoyed a field trip to three local environmentally important sites with Mr Woolley. This supported their studies and their ESS coursework.

Firstly, they visited Thursley Common, looking at the impact of its sandstone geology and summer wildfires on its fauna and flora. Secondly, at nearby Alice Holt Forest, they investigated commercial (ancient and modern) and research uses of the forest, and learnt the difference between a forest and a wood.

Lastly, they visited the Noar Hill Nature Reserve, a nationally renowned site for rare orchids and juniper.
