Underpinning everything we do is a commitment to supporting individuals to reach their highest academic potential. Pupils are encouraged to take part in both the UK Intermediate and Senior Mathematics Challenges.
On Tuesday 3 October leading Mathematicians from Year 11 to 13 took part in the UK Maths Trust (UKMT) Senior Mathematical Challenge. This is a paper taken nationwide and designed to test problem solving skills through 25 multiple choice questions in increasing order of difficulty.
Tianzong (Year 13) managed to not only secure a Gold Certificate for his outstanding score but scored highly enough to qualify for Round 1 of the British Mathematical Olympiad, which is an outstanding achievement. The competition is only open to the top 1000 students in the UK. They will compete in a gruelling three-and-a-half hour paper made up of just six questions.
A further 16 students were awarded a Gold Certificate and qualified to sit the Andrew Jobbings Senior Kangaroo.
Congratulations to everyone who participated!
