Guildford Classical Association Success

Congratulations to three Carthusians who won prizes in the Guildford Classical Association Reading Competition

The readings were filmed by entrants and judged by independent experts.

Congratulations to the following pupils:

Sam won the Greek Solo with a rendition of the story of the death of Pentheus from Euripides' Bacchae. His reading was "almost flawless in the accuracy of pronunciation and conveyed the pathos of the scene fantastically, bringing the characters of Pentheus and Agave to life."

Anik was placed second for his "highly accurate reading".

Sienna was also placed second in the Senior Latin section with a reading from Ovid's Heroides. Her performance "caught the drama well and appreciated the lighter side of the piece."

Well done to everyone who took part.
