IBDP graduates achieve top universities places

Excellent IB Diploma Programme results see pupils offered places at Oxford, UCL and NYU, along with many other prestigious institutes in the UK, Europe and the US

Charterhouse’s IB Diploma Programme (IBDP) results this year (2018) are very good indeed, with candidates gaining places at top universities in UK, Europe and the US. We offer our congratulations to all our IBDP graduates on the publication of their results. This year’s cohort received some very generous offers and it is clear that universities are keen to pick up IBDP graduates from Charterhouse.

The average points score per candidate was 35 points (out of 45) which is equivalent to more than straight A*s at A Level (using the UCAS [university entrance] tariff conversion) and remains significantly above the worldwide average of 30 points.

There were some superb results overall and some terrific individual achievements, too. Amongst them, Emma who takes up a place at Oxford to read Law with 41 points, having exceeded her offer considerably: she is in the first wave of pupils to take IB Italian A Language and Literature at Charterhouse in which she scored 7 points (with 7 as the maximum). Other excellent UK university offers include Cosima who will be heading off to Imperial to read Biomedical Engineering (also with 41 points) and Max who achieved 39 points to read politics at UCL. We have seen a real growth in the number of pupils heading overseas and we were delighted that, amongst other excellent outcomes, Arina will be heading to NYU, Rohin to Colombia University NY, Aisha to Chicago University and Leopold to Bocconi University.

Mr James Kazi, the Deputy Headmaster (Academic) was delighted with the achievements and says that: “This is a splendid set of results for these boys and girls and is a credit to their hard work, as well as the excellent teaching and support that they receive from the staff here at Charterhouse. I am thrilled that the programme has matured so well and that it is such an essential part of Charterhouse’s exceptional academic curriculum: with almost 120 pupils studying for the IB Diploma Programme across the two Specialist years in September, the programme has matured beautifully and the School should be very proud of the programme’s strength.”
