Ben Travers Theatre News

It's been a busy few weeks in the BTT with GCSE performances and Les Mis rehearsals

GCSE Drama

The doors to the Ben Travers Theatre opened on Friday 21 May for the Remove GCSE Drama group performance of 'Game Over' by Mark. This is a verbatim piece, which tells the tragedy of Breck Bednar. Matteo, Max, Denis and Harry gave a moving ensemble portrayal of this emotive true story about the dangers of online grooming. They used clever minimal staging and choral movement to share the testimonies of Breck's friends and have set an incredibly high standard for GCSE practical work. If you missed the performance, the group will be performing again in Artifex. Not to be missed!

Les Mis News

The set is slowly emerging and the costumes are gathering on the rails, so we know we are nearing the final stages of rehearsals. Who’d have thought we’d get this far!

Please be sure to book your tickets while there are seats remaining.

You may have noticed our new theatre logo on the posters. The BTT has never had one before!  Many thanks to Gary Martin for the work he did in coming up with this great contemporary design. It was a fascinating process to watch.

And Chookas to Dean Chisnall from us all as our Actor in Residence dons his Jean Valjean mantle once more and steps out for his first night of the staged concert of Les Mis at the Sondheim Theatre in London this Wednesday evening!

Ms Helen Pinkney took some rehearsal photos in the BTT the other week.
