Black History Month

Pupils launch new Unity Society to mark Black History Month

Black History Month is an annual observance that began as a way of celebrating African people and events in the diaspora. It is also a time to reflect on the hardships Black people have faced and their constant fight towards emancipation, justice and equality.

October’s Black History Month encourages equality and tolerance so is the perfect time to introduce Unity Society. Unity is a pupil-run society that hopes to create a safe community space for those facing any type of discrimination or micro-aggression, those who want to discuss current affairs and lastly, a space which ensures ethnic harmony here at Charterhouse. Due to COVID-19 and the maintenance of social bubbles, we will have a Unity slot on a different day for each year group.
