Local schools join Charterhouse for education and science workshops
On Saturday 7 July, Charterhouse hosted a full day of Physics Continuous Professional Development workshops provided by the Stimulating Physics Network. This day for both physics specialists and non-specialists, included sessions covering various science and education topics, from creating motors from cups and rubber bands, to using isaacphysics.org to enhance GCSE and A Level teaching and rotation marking. Educators from far and wide ran the sessions with technical support from the Science Department. The event also featured a keynote speech from Professor Paddy Regan, Specialist in Radiation Physics from the University of Surrey.
The following Monday saw the start of a week long residential subject-knowledge booster course for both specialist and non-specialist teachers of Physics. Both GCSE and A-Level sessions were delivered by Charterhouse teachers Steve Hearn, Rupert Massey and Ian Findlay Palmer.
These sessions have run for several years and shows how the Science Department provides support and training to teachers in the local area and beyond.
