Aquathon for Charity

Pupils raised £8,000 for C-R-Y

The first Aquathon at Charterhouse was organised by Ellery McGowan (Head of Swimming & Waterpolo) and took place on 20 May. A 200m swim was followed by a 2.5 km run to raise money for Cardiac Risk in the Young (C-R-Y).

The swimming ran smoothly with heats of two swimmers, after which the participants changed into running gear and attached their numbers. The course for the run was one lap around the stunning playing fields and golf course of Charterhouse on a beautiful sunny afternoon. As the runners came in their numbers were placed in a box for a prize draw and each participant was given a badge from C-R-Y.  Brownies donated by Elior Catering were greatly appreciated by all the pupils at the end of the Aquathon!

Medals with the C-R-Y logo were presented to 1st, 2nd and 3rd winners in each category, and the day concluded with a barbeque for all the participants and their many supporters.

With the entry fees still to be added to the amount donated by parents, the final amount will be close to £8,000, which hugely exceeds Ellery’s target of £1,000!

Our thanks go to C-R-Y, The Racquet Shop and Charterhouse Club for donating prizes.
