ARTY MORNINGS HIT THE RIGHT NOTE!

Thank you to all the local primary schools who joined us for our annual Arty Mornings

On 20 and 21 June, we were delighted to welcome 250 primary school children for our annual Arty Mornings. As ever, these were educational, great fun – and extremely noisy!

Charterhouse is a proudly musical and creative school, with alumni as diverse as Ralph Vaughan Williams and Genesis, and the arts form a key element of our partnerships programme. We feel lucky to work with several local schools on creative projects throughout the year, and our choirs and orchestras enjoy the experience of performing for audiences from care homes to cathedrals.

This year’s Arty Mornings involved five local primary schools: Green Oak C of E Primary, Busbridge Infants, Moss Lane, Cherrywood Primary, and Loseley Fields. 250 pupils took part in a range of arts activities, including an African drumming workshop led by Ray Watters. The sound of the drums could be heard right across Charterhouse – and probably further! Our visitors also enjoyed a concert given by Carthusian musicians, and the chance to explore various musical instruments. The events concluded with a wonderful and engaging performance from visiting storyteller Xanthe Gresham Knight.

We are so delighted to receive great feedback on each year’s Arty Mornings and so enjoy working together with our amazing local primary schools.
