Our Sustainability Committee gathers on World Environment Day to discuss future agenda

On Wednesday 5 June, the Charterhouse Sustainability Committee marked World Environment Day 2019 by having their regular meeting in a newly created wild meadow at the School.

The Charterhouse Sustainability Committee aims to achieve an eco-friendly community and to encourage pupils and teachers to live a green life.

Items on the agenda included discussion of content for social media and plans for sustainability events at the forthcoming Artifex festival. An installation is planned to draw attention to plastic waste and a clothes-swapping event will promote re-use of unwanted clothing.

The committee also discussed the initial responses to a questionnaire on environmental issues recently sent to all pupils. The questionnaire will help ensure that the pupils' voices are heard loud and clear in making Charterhouse a more sustainable community.

The committee's mentor, Mr Tim Reynolds, commented: "This lovely meadow is a very fitting location for our meeting today and we are grateful to the School's Grounds department for creating it".
