Designer of the Year 2019: Year 13 pupil,  Lateefat for her 'Beatiful Hustle' perfume concept

The annual Designer of the Year competition is the highlight of our Design & Technology year and always creates a buzz. This year was no exception and we had a variety of products manufactured from a wide range of materials and with diverse target audiences in mind.

From Brutalist lamps made from poured concrete to speakers influenced by 1950s aeronautical design, this years pupils showed us their very unique and sometimes quirky thinking process.

The end of year exhibition was visited by many pupils and staff as well as by parents and prep schools in the area.  Feedback was very positive and there was much discussion about which design was the strongest and who would eventually win.  Alumni, Tesjasva Malhotra (currently studying Aeronautical Enginering at Imperial College) and Emma Humphreys (architect and our Estate Bursar) were this year's judges.

After three hours of deliberation, they made their decisions and at 5.30pm on Friday 21 June they announced to the gathering crowd the following winners:

Designer of the Year 2019: Lateefat for her 'Beautiful Hustle' perfume concept.

Commendation prizes went to Freddie and Charlie.

Special mention also went to Joe and Frederick.

The 'People's Choice Award', which is the popularity prize, decided by visitor vote, went to Louis for his electric violin.

Thanks to those who attended the exhibition and announcement.

We would also like to thank all the design pupils from this year for their enthusiasm, good humour and hard work
