Our first of many planned expeditions was the Gold Practice, which was a mix of trekkers and paddlers. The trekkers followed routes local to the School and considering that training has been somewhat a premium lately, they all perform amazingly navigating around the sunny Surrey Hills over both days.
The paddlers also performed really well running through a series of skills starting from basic manoeuvres to the more advanced rescue and problem solving, culminating in a chilly practice capsize and retrieval at the end of the session. Fantastic effort by all.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all participants for their patience and understanding throughout lockdown. I know it has not been easy to keep the motivation to maintain focus and the time to complete your many activities over lockdown, so I just wanted to say a massive 'well done' to every single one of you. At least now, we can start venturing into the great outdoors and look at completing your Awards.
