Freddie’s Movember Campaign

Freddie’s Movember Campaign

Freddie (Year 13 pupil) is raising awareness of testicular cancer and fundraising for 'Checkemlads'

Good luck to Freddie during his Movember campaign and we look forward to seeing the photos at the end of the month!

Freddie's story

My support for testicular/prostate cancer sparked when one of my friends was unfortunately diagnosed with testicular cancer at the unusually young age of 13 (with the common age for emerging testicular cancer roughly 33).

Having stayed in close contact during his treatment, I realised it was a very expensive, long and hard treatment which took away vital months of education. Testicular cancer can kill adults in four years, but thankfully my friend's cancer did not spread and was removed successfully.

I very much want to raise awareness and funds for the research of testicular/prostate cancer by being involved in the long-established Movember campaign (no shave November), and this is my first time participating, along with some of my friends and housemates who are also taking part to support me.

I strongly believe this is an issue that is heavily underfunded because of its rarity (1 in 250 men), yet I feel it is essential that we highlight matters in society for men’s health.
