Mrs Bicknell's Visor Production

Mrs Bicknell's Visor Production

Mr Bicknell's wife has recruited volunteers in her village to make visors

Sarah Bicknell, who usually works as a Garden Designer, said that she and 40 volunteers had made 40 visors and had enough materials to make 3,000.

Sarah explains what motivated her to help in the production of this vital PPE for healthcare professionals:

"One of my daughters has a genetic deficiency where she has half an immune system. We’ve been shielding her for five weeks. I was getting frustrated because I wanted to do something to help the NHS but didn’t know how.

I found out how to make visors that are much needed by healthcare workers. All you need is a sheet of PVC, a foam strip and elastic. They do the job, although they’re not hospital grade. However the NHS standard ones by a printer take a while to make.

We’ve had care homes in tears of gratitude because they’ve not been able to buy any stuff and we’re just giving it to them. It’s heartbreaking."

Well done Sarah and everyone in your home village of Hindhead in Surrey. Keep up the good work!
