Pupil Charity Challenge

Pupil Charity Challenge

UPDATE: We raised an impressive £22,838!

As part of Charterhouse’s work to help those in particular need at this time, both locally and internationally, we decided to launch a special charity fundraising effort for 2020.

Taking our inspiration from the 2.6 Challenge we challenged pupils, parents, staff and Old Carthusians to undertake a series of activities with 2.6, 26 or 260 as their theme. We wanted people to be creative in how they interpreted this challenge and created the Charity Activity @Home Video motivate everyone to take part.

The final fundraising total was an impressive £22,838!

Daviesites raised over £4,000 and Gownboys raised over £3,000. Nine Houses raised over £1,000. Eva's singing concert was a highlight and the Lockites' family quiz raised over £1000 itself. Well done to everyone who took part.

We were raising funds for three charities across the School with a number of Houses also raising money for their own charities of choice including MIND and Godalming Food Bank.

The three local charities mentioned below already have very close links with the School and are part of our existing partnership programme, so it is lovely to be able to build on that relationship in a time of genuine need:

The Eikon Charity – a children’s mental health charity working with vulnerable young people across Surrey. Like the Meath their work and revenue has been hugely affected by the Coronavirus outbreak. Eikon recorded this special message for us to say thank you for our fundraising efforts:

Practical Action – a UK based development charity working to tackle the worst effects of Coronavirus around the world.

The Meath Epilepsy Charity - supporting people with complex epilepsy in Godalming and the local area. Their fundraising efforts have been badly affected by the effects of the Coronavirus pandemic and they cannot deliver the services they usually would. Watch the video below to find out more about this incredible charity and how our fundraising from this challenge will really help:
