Every year our School community comes together to celebrate Black history, culture, and achievements during Black History Month. This year’s theme, 'Reclaiming Narratives', marks a significant shift towards recognising and correcting the narratives of Black history and culture.

Throughout the month, staff are sharing stories of inspiring individuals who have impacted their lives, highlighting the importance of personal connections to history and culture.
We will 'Honour Our Heroes' through a series of daily emails throughout October, with thanks to our history teachers.
As part of Unity, the African-Caribbean Society (ACS) is dedicated to bringing together not only the Black community but also our friends and allies. ACS is a space where we can share our experiences, celebrate our heritage, and foster understanding across all communities. Speak to us, come along to the party and get involved.

The catering team served up delicious African-Caribbean inspired food on Tuesday 1 October to kick start the celebrations.
The Library team have made a dedicated display highlighting inspirational Black figures. Two featured books, The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks and Katherine Johnson's autobiography, Reaching for the Moon, are also part of the wider School reading challenge 'The 99'.
Guest Dr Dwight Weir from Diverse Educators gave an inspiring talk to Year 9s and Year 10s during PSHE on Wednesday 2 October. Dwight is passionate about pupil voice, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging.
