School Charity for Summer Term

School Charity for Summer Term

The pupil-led Charities Committee has selected the Phayar Taung Youth Development Centre in Myanmar as the Charterhouse School Charity for Cricket Quarter 2018.

Charterhouse recently launched an exciting new partnership with this remarkable school, which educates 1,200 young people in a poor and remote area of the Burmese countryside. Two Charterhouse teachers visited Phayar Taung in January 2018, with further pupil and staff links currently being planned. For further details please go to Partnership with Phayar Taung.

The Charities Committee, led by sixth former Jil Sinnes (S), oversees a busy programme of fundraising at Charterhouse. Recent causes supported by the school include SAFE Kenya, Shooting Star Chase, The Simon Trust, The Kay Mason Foundation, and Global Action Nepal – for which Year 12 pupil Dmitry Tertychnyy (g) is currently fundraising during his remarkable ascent of Mount Everest. Last year, over thirty separate events were held, raising more than £60,000 for charity.
