Last week, members of the Careers Department sent over 20 pupils to London to spend the day with The 7 Stars Media Agency. They had a fascinating and entertaining day learning about the media industry, the different roles and career paths available.
The 7 Stars is the UK’s largest independent media agency with high profile clients such as Pizza Express, Suzuki, Deliveroo and Atlantic Records. Pupils were given presentations on various media channels such as digital, print and outdoor and the pupils had to put together and pitch the most suitable media brief for a Papa John's pizza campaign at the end of the day. The group also had presentations from media owners such as Kinetic (outdoor advertising billboards), DCM (cinema advertising) and Snapchat who showed us some recent advertising campaigns and how they target specific demographics.
We are very grateful to The 7 Stars agency for organising such an interesting day for our pupils who now have a thorough understanding of the industry and the types of jobs that are available. The 7 Stars have a school leaver programme with a starting salary of £21,000pa. They also have a graduate programme with a starting salary of £26,000 and offer work placements and internships. Please do contact us if you would like further information or go directly to their website: the7stars.co.uk/careers/
What is a Media Agency?
With an industry not well known to the outside world, you might be wondering what a media agency does? They plan advertising to reach the right people in the right place at the right time… all for the right price. They are not in the business of creating the ads as this is a creative agency’s responsibility. They buy advertising space at the best price for their clients, making sure that audiences are exposed to our brands, and helping to deliver business results.
