Former Head of Art and accomplished artist and author, Michael Woods (BH58-94) studied at the Norwich School of Art and The Slade School of Fine Art before teaching drawing, painting, anatomy, stage design, ceramics and history of architecture at Charterhouse.
Michael’s paintings have been exhibited at the Royal Academy, London and his work can also be found in the collections of the Nuffield Foundation, the National Trust and the City of Norwich Museum, in addition to numerous international private collections. Michael wrote nine books and illustrated a further ten books. He also commissioned reviews and articles for various publications including Artist & Illustrator magazine and The Leisure Painter. You will find his name listed in the Who's Who in Art, The Dictionary of Artists in Britain and also in the British Studio Potters Marks book.
Sadly, Michael passed away in 2014. However, his daughter is hosting an exhibition of his works at West Pennard Village Hall in Somerset:
