In October, Charles Bathurst-Norman (W97) drove a decommissioned UK ambulance to Ukraine in support of Medical Life Lines Ukraine (MLLU), a charity focused on providing medical supplies, equipment and ambulances to war-torn Ukraine.
Charles joined the Sunflower Convoy, with a number of other volunteers, to deliver humanitarian aid, medical devices, generators and vital aid to five civilian hospitals in the eastern region of Ukraine. The convoy travelled 2,400 km from London across France, Belgium, Germany, Poland and into Ukraine over three days. Charles has been involved with the Charity since March 2022 and helped fund the first ambulance to Ukraine. MLLU has now successfully delivered 47 ambulances and 21 generators to meet the ongoing demand for humanitarian aid and medical supplies.
The charity is fully dependent on the kind support and generosity of friends, family and connections within the community. Any money raised is spent on medical supplies, vehicles, cranes to enable rescuers to reach civilians trapped under the rubble of buildings and dog food for the rescue dogs. If you are interested in participating in future convoys, please feel free to contact Charles via Charterhouse Connect.
*The Foreign Office advises against all travel to Ukraine. Anyone who enters Ukraine does so entirely at their own risk and takes full responsibility for their decision.
