OC Selected for Commonwealth Games

Old Carthusian, Alicia Wilson (G18) has been selected for the English Swimming Team for Birmingham's 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Alicia was pre-selected after reaching the finals at the Olympic Games last year but is proud to have now been officially confirmed as part of the team with a further 47 swimmers joining her in Team England.

The final squad comprises Olympic medallists through to those making their Commonwealth Games debuts.

Team England’s Chef de Mission, Mark England OBE, welcomed the swimmers to the team. He said: “We’re very pleased to welcome 38 more swimmers to Team England for the home Commonwealth Games this summer. This completes our Swimming and Para Swimming team of 48 athletes in total. I’m looking forward to watching them compete and Bring It Home in the pool over the six days this summer.”

The swimmers will look to ‘Bring it Home’ at The Sandwell Aquatics Centre from 29 July to 3 August.

Team England’s swimming team was second on the medal table at the 2018 Gold Coast Games with a total of 24 medals – nine gold, 10 silver and five bronze medals.

Good luck to everyone taking part, and especially Alicia. We're very proud of you and wish you all the best for the games.
