What better way can there be to celebrate completing 100 marathons, than with another marathon?!
Charterhouse Head of Design and Production, Mr Gary Martin, tells us how (and more importantly why!) he has recently completed not just 100, but 101 marathons.
I have just returned from the beautiful Kerry in Southern Ireland after completing three marathons in three days. The second day was my 100th marathon and it is still sinking in now exactly what I have achieved.
I always remember seeing a man in his 100 marathon top at my fourth marathon and now I join him in that club. Running has been a massive part of my life and taken me on adventures that I will never forget. The incredible atmosphere of pounding city streets to stunning mountain landscapes, but also all the wonderful people I have met on the way.
Running has taken me to the high Himalayas of Nepal, remote valleys of Uganda, North mountains of Croatia and Portugal, the wonders of Kerry, the extreme mountains of Madeira, the cities of London, Athens, Barcelona, Paris, New York, Florence, Rome, Pisa, Wellington NZ, Edinburgh, the beauty of Northumberland, Lake District, Peak District, Exmoor, Dartmoor, Flete Estate South Devon, Beachy Head, Lulworth, Cheddar Gorge, the Isle of Wight, the beauty of Tenby and Snowdonia in Wales, a 12 meter long back garden, the list goes on...
Running brings people together and that's another reason why I love it. Thanks to everyone in Ireland for such a wonderful and enjoyable event, surrounded by other friendly ultra runners. Also the Lobster for our lock in celebration!! What do I do next... maybe 200!
