A Round-Up of Sport

A Round-Up of Sport

Overall a very successful couple of weeks for sport. Well done to all involved.

Girls' Hockey

The Girls 1XI have had a very busy match schedule since the half-term break. On Saturday we hosted KCS 2XI and secured a convincing 3-0 victory. Great preparation for their upcoming Tier 3 Cup fixture next Thursday verses Sir William Borlase.

The 2XI and 3XI have also been training hard and competing in regular fixtures. Despite having some difficult defeats, they remain enthusiastic and are showing significant improvement.

With only a few weeks left of the season, the girls are looking to capitalise on all their effort this term, and secure some well-deserved wins.

Boys' Hockey

This week saw Charterhouse host the U16 and U18 Regional Indoor Hockey Preliminaries. Each tournament welcomes 5 teams who compete in a round robin for the top two positions, allowing them to qualify for the next round.

The U18 boys started the day well winning their first match convincingly. They suffered a tough defeat in the second game however putting them in a difficult position to qualify. They rose to the challenge, showing resilience and class under pressure, to win all their remaining matches and finish second. This secured them a position in the next round.

The U16 boys, despite having very little indoor training time, showed great skill, endeavour and determination against some very tough opposition. They unfortunately missed out on qualification, but will use this as good preparation for the outdoor season that commences after the Christmas holidays.

Girls' Football

The 1XI are currently focussing all their attention on the training field in preparation for their upcoming ISFA Cup fixtures, where they hope to be rewarded for all their effort.

Meanwhile the 2XI achieved great success in their fixture vs St Catherine’s. They showed sheer determination and class to secure a convincing 5-0 victory against a strong St Catherine’s side.

Boys' Football

This weekend saw Charterhouse take on Hampton School across a busy 15 match schedule, where Charterhouse football teams competed either home or away.

There were a number of very successful performances and results. Some of the most notable were achieved by the 1XI, U15A, U14A, U14C who all secured wins against a very strong opposition.

The U15A team found further success later this week seeing them progress to the next round of the ISFA Cup with a convincing 5-0 victory over City of London. Freddie capitalised on a keeper error to open the scoring, and Archie bundled one in from a corner to take it to 2-0 at half-time. After the break, further goals from Hay, 2, and Marsh completed a comfortable victory.

Next week we face Winchester and hope to capitalise on these strong performances.

Girls' Lacrosse

The 1XI Lacrosse team have being training hard in preparation for a number of important, upcoming fixtures. First, a friendly this week vs Wellington that will then stand them in good stead for their Small Schools tournament next Saturday at The Royal School.
