The cricket season continues to be blessed with fantastic weather and both boys and girls have enjoyed an excellent couple of weeks. The 1st XI boys have enjoyed excellent victories over the Marylebone Cricket Club and KES Southampton. In the MCC match, Luke took 5-41 and made 71 in the run chase, an outstanding performance. Jevan made his maiden hundred for the School in the successful run chase against KES Southampton to lead us to victory.
The girls have had matches against Lancing College and Surbiton High School. The 1st XI recorded their first victory over Lancing with good performances from Poppy and Olivia.
There have been wins for most of the teams over the last week, with standout performances from Harry in the 2nd XI against Westminster and Arthur with Gus in the U14B victory over KES Southampton.
Boys travelled to Radley for the competitive relays event, narrowly missing out on a medal in the Inters 4 x 100m and Senior Medley. Meanwhile, junior girls had plenty of success at the St Catherine’s relays.
In a very competitive fixture at Tonbridge on Saturday, boys' teams (U15, U17 and U19) achieved 30 season’s best performances. Jesse won the U19A discus, and Alessandro the U19B 400m. The inter 4 x 400m ran gallantly (Mat, Logan, Matt and Jack) but the most impressive result of the day was in the final race, when the senior 4 x 400m team of Rupert, Alessandro, Andrea and Iacopo beat teams from Eton, Tonbridge and St Paul’s.
Senior Girls' House tennis took place on Tuesday 10 May with all four Houses entering three pairs. Matches were very tight and it came down to the last game between Sutton and Chetwynd to decide who lifted the trophy. On the last couple of points, Sutton found the gaps on the court and capitalised on this.
