A Round-Up of Sport

A Round-Up of Sport

Last week was yet another very successful one for Charterhouse Sport and a great way to enter the final week of the term.

Fencing & Lacrosse

A number of midweek fixtures were played and that saw Fencing secure a convincing victory over Hampton School. The Lacrosse team (girls) competed in a very close match with Bradfield showing great endeavour to come out on top and win 9-8.

Hockey

Boys' AXI Hockey won their friendly on Wednesday evening 5-2 despite being 2-2 at half time. Very clinical finishes and precise execution of the game plan allowed them to secure the victory. This was great preparation for the highly anticipated 'Battle of the Beaks' match up that took place on Friday evening.

Despite the cold weather the 'Battle of the Beaks' was a wonderful evening to round off the first term of hockey. The match was played and umpired at a high level with 70 minutes of end to end hockey that ultimately saw the pupils sneak a 9-6 victory over the beaks (teachers)! It was great to have so many pupils and staff come down to support and raise approximately £200 for Help for Heroes.

On Saturday, the Girls' Hockey teams concluded a very successful season with three fixtures against Lord Wandsworth College. This Season has seen Charterhouse field three hockey teams for the first time. All have competed admirably, and a great foundation has been established for future teams.

Football

On Saturday we had a full block of boys' football fixtures against Bradfield that encompassed 20 matches. The 16A team put in a fantastic performance to end their season and there were other good results for the 16C team with a 3-1 win and the 16D team with 2-2 draw.  The 14A team had a competitive and closely fought match that ended 3-3 whilst the 14D team won 4-2, the 14E team won 3-2 and the match of the day came in the 14F game with Charterhouse winning a 13 goal thriller by 8 goals to 5.

Thank you to everyone involved in sport this term, your efforts were very much appreciated.  Enjoy your Christmas holidays and we’ll see you in the New Year for more sport.
