Read the highlights from this term from the Sports Department

It has been an extremely busy term of Sport with pupils and coaches alike having given tirelessly on behalf of the School.

Football

The School has played more than 160 matches this term with over 360 pupils representing 23 teams. The Boys’ 1st team has enjoyed notable wins including Bede’s, Hampton and Whitgift. They reached the semi-final of the ISFA Plate National 6s, and in the Boodles ISFA Cup, the squad reached the last 16 stage.

Elsewhere, the 4th XI, U16Bs and U14As have all enjoyed standout playing records across the Quarter.

The Girls’ football squad ended the term having won six of their eight inter-school fixtures as well as reaching the quarter-final of the ISFA National 7-a-side tournament held at Charterhouse.

Basketball

The senior and junior squads have started their respective playing seasons well, losing only one of their nine matches.

Golf

The team has reached the Area final of the ISGA match play competition and will play Reed’s in January.

Hockey

The Boys’ U16s indoor hockey squad reached the South Finals for the very first time.

Racquets

The Colts pair of James and Marcus rounded off a competitive season with wins over Radley, Harrow and Haileybury. We wish the whole squad good luck as they head off to the Public Schools' Singles Competition held at Queen’s December.

Rowing

At the Burway Small Boats Head where over 300 crews entered, Edward and Adam came third (by one second) in J17 Double Sculls. Rufus came fourth in the J15 Single Sculls.

Shooting
The shooting teams are coming to the end of an extremely successful year, having won over 24 national shooting and cadet commonwealth trophies;16 of which at the Schools’ Meeting held at Bisley. The team won the Cadet Skill at Arms competition at Pirbright again, whilst Henry has been selected as a reserve for the under 19 Target rifle trip to South Africa.

Squash

The 1st V have performed exceptionally well, defeating nine different schools in all competitions, finishing second in their National Schools group. The U16s showed much promise by topping their National Schools group with the U14 team also performing well in the National Schools with wins over Whitgift and Lancing and hope to progress further in the knock-out stages after Christmas.
