Year 11 Football Tournament

Year 11 Football Tournament

As part of their ‘outduction’ week, Year 11 pupils enjoyed a fun football tournament on Thursday evening

Special thanks go to Charlie for the work he put into designing the tournament format and planning the teams.

There were 64 pupils taking part in 4 squads of 16 players. There was a round robin group stage where all four teams played each other in 11v11 matches before a final and a third place play-off match.

One of the highlights of the evening was the Magnum ice creams (other brands of ice cream are available!) so thank you to the catering department for providing treats and drinks to keep the players hydrated.

The purple and white teams topped the group with one win each and two draws as well as having the same goal difference. The orange team also had a win and two draws but their goal difference left them missing out on the final. The pink team unfortunately lost all three group games.

The pink team then put up a great fight in the 3rd place play-off match and the game finished 1-1 and went to penalties, where the orange team prevailed. The white team won the final and took the honours, but most importantly, fun was had by all.

Many thanks to the Sport Graduates for refereeing even better than Pierluigi Collina could have done.
