Howard Hat-trick for A XI

Howard Hat-trick for A XI

4-2 victory against Kingston Grammar School

Wednesday 19 September

Charlie Howard scored a superb hat-trick in a great team display against Kingston Grammar School 3rd XI. Having kicked off within a whisker of arriving for this Wednesday afternoon fixture Charterhouse found themselves a goal down within thriiry seconds. In fact, picking the ball out of the back of the goal net was the first time that anyone in a pink shirt had touched the ball! However, the school side got into their running soon after this shaky start and equalised on ten minutes when Charlie Howard dribbled along the right hand baseline, dummied past the keeper and swept in on his backhand. More pressure and threatening running from Ganesh Robinson, Caspar Woodward and Brandon Chui kept Kingston on the back foot and a superb interception from Howard gave him the chance to turn and shoot to make it 2-1 after eighteen minutes. The half ended on a nice moment for the Clarke brothers as Morgan crossed at pace for Elliot to deflect home on his backhand to make it 3-1.

The second half continued at a high tempo and Robinson hit the post for Charterhouse, Clayton-Jones and Wilkinson defended well and Lavelle worked very hard in midfield. However, it was Kingston that scored next to close the gap to one goal midway through the half and there on in the game was very tight. Only with seven minutes to go did Wilkinson smash a cross in that fell kindly for Charlie Howard who pounced on the loose ball to score. Again. A great team display and an even better man of the match performance from Charlie Howard.
