NSEA National Championships

NSEA National Championships

A slightly blustery Monday at the start of the half-term break, saw the first proper outing for the Charterhouse Equestrian Team.

And we could not have picked a better event as a showcase than the NSEA National Championships at Hickstead!  We had a team competing in the 90/95cm Eventers Challenge and Georgia had also qualified as an individual in the 1m/1.05m class.

Nerves were jangling, horses were sparkling and there were smiles all round. The newly arrived team kit, provided by the generosity of the Carthusian Society, definitely made us stand out from the crowds. The competition was fierce, not least as we were in a class of 44 teams. It was a tricky course with plenty for the horses to think about it with combined show jumps and cross country fences, the water was an added bonus!

Our team consisted of Honor, Selina, Elodie and Georgia. They all rode extremely well with some incredibly tight turns over skinny fences and a few gasp moments too! We finished a very creditable 17th overall in a fiercely contested  class. The camaraderie and team spirit were evident throughout the day, with everyone supporting and encouraging each other and, although we didn’t win the Hotel Chocolat prizes, we were pleased with our performance as a team.
