Sport Round-Up

It has been an extremely busy second half of term for Charterhouse Sport with pupils and coaches alike giving tirelessly on their behalf for the School.

Cross Country 

In the Inter House Relays, the winners of the Muris Trophy were Daviesites and individual senior winners, Alex A O’Callaghan-Brown (R) and Maisie Pennant (V).

Fives

There have been good wins for the senior pairs against Westminster and Lancing for the boys whilst the girls have won against Holyport College and Lancing. The Under School have had only one defeat against Harrow in their matches thus far.

Football

The School has played almost 200 matches this term winning 50% of these. The Boys’ first team has enjoyed notable wins over Highgate, Shrewsbury, Westminster and Winchester. They reached the plate final of the ISFA National Sixes hosted at Charterhouse.

Elsewhere, a special mention should be given to the Fourth XI who enjoyed an unbeaten season in all its inter-school matches with the U14As and U14Fs also enjoying standout playing records during the term.

The Girls’ Football team ended the term having won eight of their inter-school fixtures as well as reaching the quarter final of the ISFA National 7-a-Side tournament held at Charterhouse in October.

Hockey 

The girls have won six of their 10 matches this term, whilst the U16 Boys’ indoor squad reached the South Regional Finals.

Squash

The Ist V has qualified for the second stage of the National Schools knockout cup. A strong U15 squad has also qualified for the second stage of their own knockout competition. The U14s also show promise with wins over Eton and Winchester. The girls’ squad has also entered the National Schools competition for the first time and competed well against the likes of Downe House, Benenden and king’s Canterbury. They also enjoyed wins over Epsom and St Catherine’s School.

Swimming & Water Polo

The Senior Boys’ squad remain undefeated in their last three matches, whilst the U16 water polo team are on a roll having won all bar one of their six matches in the last two rounds of the London Schools League.

Other Fixtures

There have also been fixtures in Badminton, Basketball, Golf, Lacrosse, Rowing and Rugby Union.

We wish our Racquets players the best of luck as they compete in the Public Schools Singles Championships at The Queen’s Club, 10 to 16 December. 

Twenty-three skiers will compete in the Independent Schools Ski Championships in Les 2 Alpes from 14 to 20 December.

The First Squash Team will tour New York between 8 to 15 December. George Barlow (V), Prince Singh (P), Ross Richardson (F), Ollie Sheen (W) and Ayush Patel (S) are all part of the Surrey CCC Academy Pathway.

The following boys have been selected to represent Surrey as County Hockey players:

Raphael Boulanger (P), Alex Moore (g), Rupert Evans (G), James Taylor (D), Santi Gutierrez Domenech (B), Josh Drake-Brockman (G), Nick Lamming (L), Max Delaney (B) and Ed Doljanin (g).

Charlie Timms (D) has been selected in the Home Nations Slope-style Ski Team.
